The Commonly Used Sheltering Items (CUSI) Catalog is a compilation of items for which FEMA maintains agreements so that these items can be more easily provisioned during a disaster. These items are focused on meeting the needs of survivors in the shelter environment and other congregate settings and are arranged around categories relating to sheltering, hygiene, cleaning, infants and toddlers, durable medical equipment, and consumable medical supplies.
This version (September 2022) of the CUSI Catalog represents a collaboration between FEMA Mass Care/Emergency Assistance (MCEA) and FEMA Logistics (LMD) team to update the list of kits and a la carte items to support sheltering. Additionally, in development of this version, FEMA MCEA collaborated with American Red Cross and FEMA’s Office of Disability Integration and Coordination (ODIC).
Principal changes include:
- Added Pandemic Shelter Kit as an item
- Updated items within the Infant and Toddler (I/T) Kits to increase their shelf life, to include three powder formulas: Powder Milk based, Powder Soy-Based, and Powder based Hypoallergenic.
- Minor administrative changes to increase ease of use and address previous errors
